Focus Magic

might make a crop of the new camera image bring out some more detail. I've recently been looking into sharpening programs, and FM looks useful. Still haven't bought it though.

If anyone with FM feels inclined...

The larger prism could just be a design unveiled by Pentax some months ago to make a larger viewfinder by adding an enlarging lens under the focusing screen. That design means the viewfinder must sit higher so the mirror can still go all the way up. And, from the picture, you can clearly see a cut out line around the hot shoe, suggesting an on-board flash. So, it could still be APS-C.

Couple of things seem pretty clear from the positioning of the Pentax lineup in the shot released by Mr.Blurry Pentax.
-This is a model notch above existing enthusiast Pentax Model i.e. K20D.
-Just look at the way Pentax models are arranged. The K-m on the rightmost position, followed by k200D followed by K20D followed by "Bluuurry Pentax"...clearly indicates to my stupid mind..a newer higher end model by Pentax.
-Whether its an FF or not is not clear but it DOES seem to have bigger viewfinder for sure. (May be for 1.3 crop?)
-A video recording mode based on a previous image of the mode dial.
-It does have a hot shoe...someone mentioned here it doesnt but careful observation reveals a hot shoe mount.
-All of the above in a body thats as compact (or smaller) as the K-m! What a feat already by pentax engineers :-D
-And whatever be the sensor size our existing treasure of pentax lenses will work just fine with this blurry guy :-)

My $0.02 amid all this speculation frenzy.

I really like the new shape. I am going to call it "ZX-5D" until Pentax officially announce it.

(Begin snide unnecessary comment)

If Pentax stays true to its reputation, I am betting on an end of may announcement with a commercial release date around end of july... just too late to get people to buy it for their travels etc...

(End snide unnecessary comment)

So, here is the latest news with better picture of new Pentax camera:

As we can see that 1st camera on the left is the one that we've been seeing on the internet with blurry picture.
But have you noticed the 3rd camera from the left (or 2nd from the right)?
This one is definitely another new camera. Look at the longer lens mount and different hot shoe (metal?).

So here I see it from left to right:
1) K??? 2)K20D 3)K? or K?? 4)Km/K2000

Live is fun!

Funny man...
3rd is my Pentax K200D.
Very rare and almost unknown Pentax camera.
