No scene mode in the mode dial is a good indication of higher prosumer level camera.

Thanks also for saving the images. I was actually online when one was pulled, after clicking to open big it "disappeared".

I did some very crude *restoration* work to try to read what is on the mode dial... hope it has not already been done.

It appears to be, starting from the set position:

• Movie symbol?
• Green "Auto"
• "P", Program AE
• "Sv", Sensitivity Priority
• "Tv", Shutter Priority
• "Av", Aperture Priority
• ???, starts with "P". Haven't seen anything like this in previous PENTAX DSLR-S. Please correct me if I am wrong.
• "B"?
• ???
• ??? A heart symbol? Kind of like a "simple mode" like my Panny FZ7K has? or A red "x"?
• USER?

This camera sure is looking very interesting! Especially that weird huge lump over the viewfinder, which has been discussed in the other threads.

Looks like a step in the right direction, possible video mode and possibly a larger sensor size, hoping for competitive AF and live view. I'd love for Pentax to address the value in using a larger sensor, a full frame would be great to have at some point, but I'd be happy even if it's an APS-H 1.3x sensor, it would give a larger sensor but still be more affordable than a FF sensor.

Good restoration--thanks! But your reading of the symbols is a bit off. With the exception of the Movie mode, these are exactly the same as the K20D. Starting from the set position:

• Movie symbol
• Green "Auto"
• "P"
• "Sv"
• "Tv"
• "Av"
• "TAv"
• "M"
• "B"
• "X" (sync)
• USER

You can "take these to the bank", with the exception of the Movie mode, which is speculative. FWIW, I agree that it looks like a movie symbol.

Dan, Alex,

as much as I want it to be a movie symbol, I wish I could find similar symbol like this one on other camera/internet to make sure that this is movie symbol.
Do you have anything as reference so that we all can be more certain?

Thanks,

That camera on the left in the pic looks very interesting. It's not as sleek as the others. Could this be that digital LX/MX folks have been asking for?

Sorry I couldn't find any angles similar to the new PENTAX's one...
