Dude, forget the batteries. Looking at the specs it would appear they listened to "us" and put both an AF button and an ISO button on the grip!!!

Being able to turn off AF by shutter half-press would... well... lets just say it would make me extremely happy.

http://www.pentaximaging.com/accesso..._Battery_Grip/

The D-BG4 Battery Grip extends shooting times by providing additional power via a second lithium-ion battery or AA batteries. The battery grip includes a tray for either battery option. It also features a vertical release button, depth-of-field preview switch, front and rear e-dials, and buttons for exposure lock and autofocus, as well as a green button and ISO button. The D-BG4 is weather-sealed to protect the battery.

You can do that now on the K20, right?
Line 14 on the custom menu?

Yes, and doing so effectively turns off your ability to use AF with the portrait controls because the only AF actuation is via the shutter release. D-BG4 adds a dedicated AF button to the grip.

I see your concern.
I can't imagine Pentax doing away with that basic adjustment?

From this angle, it appears that the D-BG4 has added so much in "depth", I guess that's what it takes to accommodate six AA batteries...

And from the side:

This shows how big the grip is compared with the compact size of the K-7 body:
