How is the "free" extended warranty different from the normal Pentax USA warranty when you register the camera with Pentax? Just curious is all...

Still that the price is just amazing though!!

I do not see how such prices are going to help sales of the K7...kinda makes the K20D an absolute no-brainer for anyone looking to get a super DSLR with a lot to offer...competes well with bodies still selling for 2x as much.

I paid $630 about 10-days ago from Amazon with overnight shipping...for me living in California I am better off with Amazon though due to ~9% sales tax...as far as I am aware that is still the price at Amazon, so if the sale at WallyWorld goes away there is always Amazon as a backup for not much of a difference.

aaaaaaaaa This is a good price for a great camera, too bad though I need the video mode to save my job (newspaper photojournalit) in the K7. I could buy 2 new K20's for the 1 K7 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

Refurb w/ 90 day warranty vs. new w/ 3yr warranty. Not really comparable.

The normal Pentax warranty is only one year in the US. The two year extended warranty is an extra $40 and can only be purchased with the camera. There are some, however, selling the two year extended warranty for $10.

The warranty also includes a tune up on the camera at any time for no charge. I think that is a $260 value.

Interesting thanks...was not aware the extended warranty was optional. I was thinking of this thread and overlooked that it was a promo that the warranty was free for all K-series bodies purchased through the end of July 2009:

I emailed as I did not receive a card in my box. I also went ahead and blew $3.99 on an genuine extended Pentax Warranty here just in case:

No need to spend $40 on one.

I'm so annoyed at Walmart.. they ran out of stock again. Oh well. Guess I have until the end of the month to pick something up before the free warranty extension offer is up.

There are no k20d available from walmart at this time.

I didn't know they extended the free warranty to July 29. I stopped paying attention to it after I purchased and got the extended warranty.

The cost is up to $13.99 on Amazon so it seems to float a bit. I was also under the impression the warranty had to bought at the same time as the camera. Did your buying the warranty after the fact really entitle you to the warranty, as in Pentax will honor it?

I also thought the free warranty entitlement was also tied to where you bought the body from, i.e an Authorized Pentax reseller?
