K-7 featured at St. Louis' largest Camera chain

Thought all who lament the demise of Pentax in local camera shops might like to see that it isn't impossible for Pentax to sell through them.

Creve Couer Camera

In the store, salespeople actually demonstrate Pentax cameras and describe them as a great value for the dedicated amateur. (They still drive snap-shooters to Canon and semi-pros to Nikon, though, and sort their digital camera online items alphabetically so Canon comes up first).

Pretty good assortment of the better lenses, too - 15 total.

Unfortunately in their attached spec.'s for the K-7 they list "Water Resistant" as "No"

It is weather resistant and not water resistant.

Dang it Monochrome, you have a Camera Store Chain and the State Capital here doesn't even have a bona fide camera store unless you count part of a Ritz cracker.

when i came into creve couer camera the other day, they told me to figure it out for em real quick so they can sell it.

(i showed up the first day it was on the shelf i think)

Yes, you are correct - I wish they had made an entry for weather resistant or better-described the actual weather-sealed body in the mouse-over pop-up.

April 1st 2008, first thing that Hoya did after the takeover of Pentax:

Termination of Pentax Reps.

I wonder who has cut loose more employees since April 1st 2008 TakeOver:

Pentax Corporation or Hoya?

They said at the time no one else had reps either. Whatever! I know the two Canon Reps, the Nikon Rep, the Tamron Rep, the Leica rep, the Olympus Rep.

Hoya has no Hoya Rep in my area that I've ever seen at any event, so this is likely the way Hoya does biz. Hoya's been spoiled manufacturing a 5 dollar filter that then wholesales for $80 that then retails for $200. I think they want Pentax Business Model to work this way too.

Me? I need a few filters for my next big trip and I am only considering B+W and Heliopan now.

USA Pentax dealers buy their goods from Amazon.com now so there is no need for Pentax Reps nowadays it seems.

THK Photo is the company that markets Hoya filters, Tokino Lens, and Kenko products in the US.

Amazon.com now fullfills Pentax Dealers orders in USA.

With the $100.000 annual minimum to retain your pentax dealership and this interesting & new supply line feature is it any wonder wonder why the USA dealers have dropped Pentax logo goods this year?

I've still never met a Hoya, a Kenko or Tokina Rep at any event. I used to know both Pentax area Reps as one or the other one would show up to gear events, real good guys with employment dating back to Asahi. Very knowlegable, very dedicated, & very terminated on April 1st 2008.
