Rumored SAMSUNG 85mm 1.4 could be a 85mm FA rebrand

I assume this should be in here as it certainly is a Rumour. I was bored tonight and though I would determine what size front element and filter is on those leaked Korean pictures.

Anyway. Here it is, I just thought I would stir the pot.

I assumed the camera is a GX-20. If anything the lens dimensions are an overestimate due to parallax, but not by much.

The final filter size is close enough to 67mm that it might be a FA rebrand, but its not a DA*55mm.

If you can't read the image too well the front element is 61.7mm dia. and the filter threads look like 68.5mm dia. (I would assume 67mm)

Nice! I would be thrilled if we get an 85/1.4, whether it's a new Samsung design or a rehash of an old film lens.

Haha, the FA85\1.4 coming out anew will make me want to spend money again... and I have FA77 already.

Real question is: what else could it be?

All samsung lenses are rebadged FA/DA. How likely is it that they would suddenly design a 85 f/1.4 on their own?

Well there is a Korean company making a 85mm f1.4 lens that is being rebranded by more brands than I can mention.

But that is a manual-focus lens.

85mm F1.4 MF with 1.7x Pentax AF adapter makes it a 145mm AF lens.

Too Large/Small

The Vivitar lens has a filter size of 72mm, larger then this observed lens. And it would be probably larger still if you added AF mechanics.

The only Pentax lenses that had a 67mm filter were: the FA24, the FA20 and the FA85 (I think that is all).

They are talking about a mass production Korean lens I presume, not the DA*

That's what he has on his camera. The korean 85mm and the Pentax 1.7x AF TC.
