Pentax is looking at a glorious future

At least according to Douglas Coupland. From his latest book, Generation A (a near-future novel):

"He held a military-grade Pentax capable of snapping three hundred 2-gig photos per second".

aah, but nobody will buy it because even though it'll be half the price of the Canon, the Canon will take 309 2.1gig photos every 0.96 seconds and any other camera will be pointlessly rubbish.

Absolutely - because the Nikon military grade camera would be able to take 400 frames a second and in real world amateur/semi-pro usage that would matter and be worth arguing about.

And dpreview will give it a "Highly Recommended (but only if you shoot raw)" because the default JPEG output is slightly soft when viewed on a 100' high house wall at 1' distance.

Can you image the noise on ~300 megapixel APS-C?

Also, I'm assuming that's 300FPS in manual focus? Does it drop to 1.5 when in continuous AF? I like my science fiction to be at lest remotely realistic...

Coupland just might be exagerating here...

I have yet to read the book, so this is just a guess.

I would get one, but I think I would find it irritating to delete 299 photos when I only intended to take one.
