Sales of the K-x in Japan pushed back 17 days

The Pentax K-x was originally scheduled for public release in Japan on 16 October. The release date of the red version has been pushed back a day to Oct 17 days due to the higher than expected demand...

Launch price:
¥ 69,800 with kit lens (DA L 18-55mm)
¥ 89,800 with double zoom kit (DA L 18-55mm with DA L 55-300mm)

This camera is definitely a hot item!!!

Isn't that only for the red model?

I don't know if you can read Japanese or rely on google translate like I do but my impression is that only the red versions launch was postponed and only by a day (from 16th to 17th). Maybe someone can clear that for me?

Thanks,
Radu

Google translate from the news article on the pentax.jp site:

However, "PENTAX Kx (White)", "PENTAX Kx (Black)", and order the color for each color, as originally planned will be released on October 16.

"order the color for each color" :-) That must be the 100-colors-version.

It's saying that the red is delayed by 1-day due to over orders.
Guess red is popular after all.

All other colours and special-order models are due to be released on the 16th as expected.

I've been checking out the amazon top 100 every few days since the Kx announcement - White has been consistently on the list, with the Red and black 2 lens kit (55-300) being the only other ones I have seen. So yeah, I think the Red will be selling better than most around here would think! If I end up having to wait until month's end for the white, I might consider the red instead. I've read that the red shade is the same as some Gundam character which is huge in Japan, and the likely reason for the color doing well (last time I checked its a part of their flag too!)

Well, the East is Red after all, as someone now dead once said.

Explains the popularity of that model. I wonder which market is driving the demand for red?

I happen to be holidaying in Japan at the moment and I can confirm that there are definitely no display models in any of the big stores over here. There's definitely a lot of K-x advertising around the place though.
