From Pentax on Facebook:
"Coming out with a full frame camera would not only involve the expenses of the camera design and production, but also a whole new series of lenses. Due to differences between film and digital sensors, it is not just a simple matter of reproducing old lenses, especially if you want optimal results."
Pentax should use an APS-H sensor in its semi-Pro mid range camera like the K-7 and a full frame sensor in a Pro model.
This would clearly distinguish each camera range. All the DA Limited lenses would work fine with APS-H. I would keep the pixel count they are using now for the APS-H sensor to increase pixel pitch which would greatly increase high ISO performance, dynamic range etc.
Then keep the 100% viewfinder which would be much bigger for APS-H over the 100% viewfinder in the K-7.
This would give Pentax a great advantage in the semi-Pro camera range.
massive hike in prices? Pentax lenses are already too expensive.
Ancient screw drive F1.8 31mm Limited will cost you roughly a $1000 nowadays. It's a great piece of glass, but seriously, I have 2 systems and if I need to spend over a grand on this focal lens which one will I buy, this one or Canon 35/1.4L? It's a no brainier for me.

But I imagine that Pentax wouldn't pass up the chance to release some new lenses to go with the new body. After all, with cameras that last this long, they have to hook us with the accessories

A clever idea, but who other than Canon makes APS-H sensors?

Too bad you wouldn't be buying a Pentax lens.
I could shop at Payless for Converse lookalikes...but they're not real Converse shoes.
Unfortunate that America has broken down into bottom-line shoppers...
Certainly though Samsung could manufacture an APS-H sensor if this was the direction they chose to go.
I would much rather Samsung and Pentax go FF rather than stick with yet another crop sensor.
What advantages would an APS-H sensor even have over a FF Samsung/Pentax project?
It also doesn't make any sense that Pentax would have a complete line of cameras ranging from APS-C to APS-H to FF to MF. I doubt Hoya has the cash to completely revamp the entire line like that.
