FF in 2010?

Hoisted this just off the DPreview forum...
A Pentax representative told me today at the Paris photo show that Pentax will release a full frame DSLR in 2010.
Hope the op doesn't mind me quoting it here!
Could this be true...fingers crossed?!

So a Pentax full frame finally in 2010, huh? Bet you this will be this year's 500,000-view thread!

We've gone through a lot of this speculation already courtesy of ogl...

Hoya/Pentax and 2010 - BIG speculation.

words...out...of...mouth. Not 3 posts into that thread ogl was already being quoted in a tertiary reference. amazing.

What would it take to get a few less of these threads going, and a few more new K-x user reviews around here?!

Do 4/3 camera users have to put up with all this crap too? There are 2 larger companies and one wannabe that offer FF. If you have the money to spend, cant you just go already? (yeah i know, legacy yada yada) You heard it here first...if it happens it happens!

No harm in hoping...

There are already quite a few user reviews of the K-x, both here and in photo review websites. I assume you've seen these already pxpaulx...

If this is indeed true, they better have sensor specs that can exceed the likes of the D700 at a lower price. It just seems that whatever Pentax does is just not enough to garner the respect of Canon and Nikon fanboys.

There is no need to gain any Canikoners' respect - odds are that won't happen even with a FF cam that's specced twice as well as their own flagships...

The main focus for me is SDM - reliability, robustness and speed. Should be better in each category and MAKE people want to go SDM over screwdrive.

A sensor similar to the K-x (but with a native ISO 100) could be conceivably developed to a FF size and specced accordingly... Noise control would be an instant improvement.

The next big challenge is indeed lenses - DFAs will now have to start rolling out to accommodate the FF body. Old FA formulas rehashed into DFAs would do really well - I wonder whether demand might exceed the supply...

The announcement will be close to the end of 2010, the shipping to shops in 2011.
+/-. No solid dates yet.

what is important is to meet the demands of the Pentax users and potential first time dslr buyers. earning respect is the least of those priorities.

And I think they've done just that with the K-x.
A FF offering will appeal more to the smaller enthusiast/pro clientelle, therefore demanding a different set of features...

I was wondering if I should jettison my current kit to buy the 645d and a couple of lenses....this makes it so much more difficult!
