wow, they had plans for it to be full frame. Too bad they decided it wouldnt have been any good for the market and that they gave up on it in 2001.

It also looked somewhat like the first digital slr prototype they came up with a year or 2 before hand.

I thought it was just a rumour at 2001 and the model was a fake.

The case was probably a real design but the manufacture project was never commenced.

We can only hope something like k1d to be released in the future.

Based on their commitment to the DA line, i doubt it. If the DA lenses are anything like the EF-S ones that canon sells, they would give a horrible vignetting effect when used on a 1.3x crop sensor.

I hear that (new) DA* series of lenses support 1.3X crop factor !
So new K1D might be with 1.3X crop sensor!

This is the oldest news, how many times does this have to resurface.

A coming K5, whenever it arrives, will look nothing like this prototype model K1.

Plus and to do it with my Belovid MZ-S (based) digital that I saved close to 5K fore before it was scrapped!
Ugg. Pentax and I still have bad blood over this one

That's very OLD news: Pentax started developing FF model (initial models were unofficially called MZ-D, later renamed to K1). MZ-D development had been based on MZ-S body but eventually Pentax decided to abandon it and developed APS-C based body we all know as *istD.

I've been seeing nothing but rumors, pretty much, so with the release of the new homepage (which is still a ways down the road), this section will be converted to literally a "Rumors and News Discussion" board. The homepage will feature official news updates directly from Pentax.
