It certainly looks as if the K-x will be very popular and a great seller for Pentax.
Although the many cool colors are only available in Japan, they are bound to be noticed in the press everywhere. We can get the K-x in blue, white and red here, and even that is much more than the DSLR competition can offer. Way to go, Pentax!
A good review. But Mark always does commendable little reviews.
joins the growing list of DSLR cameras that can record video, with a best quality setting of 1280x720 pixels at 30fps
At the top of the review 30fps is mentioned but later the correct 24fps is cited.
...Using a set of high-powered rechargeable Ni-MH batteries, the Pentax K-x was still going strong after over 2 weeks of intermittent use and 500 test shots
. Worth noting.
The image samples, including RAW files, will be handy for measurebators.
I appreciate the review, though the author seems to have confused the K-x with the K-7 in a couple of sentences, mentioning K-7 when he probably was referring to the K-x. Or he probably lifted a couple of sentences from the review straight-up, since there are commonalities between the K-x and K-7 in some areas.
I agree with the reviewer -- I think this camera hits a sweet spot in the market. It should sell really well for a lot of entry level folks. I think the price on the dual kit -- 18-55/55-300 is pretty amazing.
Focusing is quick and consistent in good light with the standard 18-55mm kit lens, even with fast-moving subjects that travelled across the frame [...] the quickest DSLR camera in its class in terms of continuous shooting speed.
Just a year ago, who would have expected reading this in a review of a Pentax camera, never mind their entry level one?
