Does the HDMI mean it will do video?

Not necessarily, it may not mean live view either, maybe only display of captured images.

That is crazy!

Just curious as I am not too familiar with medium format cameras...

Is the 645D expected to compete with Hasselblad and Mamiyas?

I.e. will pro photographers be using this to blow pics up to bus stop sizes?

Expect around $10 000. At least this has been Pentax benchmark....

From the diagram the final product looks very much like these images of a prototype.

I wonder if the leak would know what the two taped-over buttons are for.

I like that the EV, ISO and green buttons are placed as on the K-7; makes it easy to switch between the too cameras in the field.

Too bad there's no interchangeable back or Benjikan would be all over this like a dog over a leg :-)

As can be seen it has all the buttons of the K-7. I'm positive that it shares the same feature set and in fact camera electronics with the K-7.....

What purpose would interchangeable backs serve? We don't have to change the back to change ISO or color response as we had to do in the film days!

If I could get a digital back for my 645NII for substantially less than the 645D, then I could see the value! Leica went down that path, unsuccessfully, so there must be some challenges to such a solution.

Did Pentax make any 645 with interchangeable backs? With Mamiya the earlier 645 did not either and hence cannot be used with the new digital backs. Only those systems that had interchangeable backs can be adapted I think. Most likely less expensive to make and less complicated to use are reasons for not having one in the first place. I do like it in the Hasselblad. Under 10K will make it very competetive at the low end of MF digital photography and even new Pentax 645 lenses are cheap compared to some of the competition. Current used 645 systems sell for less than a Hasselblad film back new. Two sets of tripod mounts on it.

Yes, for people like me who find ourselves shooting everything vertically. Now that they've given me that, they just need to give me 10,000 so that I can actually buy it.

Maybe, just maybe, when it finally comes out people will shut up about the lack of a "pro" camera from Pentax. Of course they will still bitch about the lack of "full frame". Idiots.

That's the idea....although in theory there should be a lot more going for it towards quality than just the 39MP / print size. It wasn't that long ago when it was common to see a Pentax 645 or 67 in a studio.

I won't be able to afford it.....and all my MF glass is 67.....but maybe after it's been out for a while and the price drops....
