Point & Shoot Contest #3

Welcome to the PentaxForums POINT & SHOOT PHOTO CONTEST #3

After seeing a respectable amount of entries for the last P&S contest, I figured I'd make it a bit different, but only in the interest of stimulating creative thought.
And since tomorrow is Valentines Day, the contest shall have a theme - BEAUTY. Now I don't want you to limit yourselves to just entering pictures of lovers kissing (though that is perfectly acceptable). Think of anything you find beautiful - in nature or on the streets, anything goes.

Rules:

1. Any non SLR camera can be used. ANY BRAND. Film or digital;
2. ENTRIES CLOSED;
3. The maximum allowed photo dimensions are 800x800 pixels;
4. List camera brand and model;
5. Nudity accepted, but make it decent;
6. Some post-processing is encouraged, but not to the point where I can no longer consider it a photograph, but rather photomanipulation (i.e don't use stock photos, brushes etc);
7. Will award 1st place, and runner ups;
8. There is no limit to the number of entries. Post as many as you like, but avoid using two pictures of the same subject shot from a different angle;
9. The winner of the contest will host and judge the next one

Good luck to you all, and I hope to see some great entries.

Title: A rose is a rose is a rose.
Camera: Fuji Finepix S5100.
Comment: This was taken at ISO 400 under natural light. I managed to intentionally underexpose it by about one f-stop; I then used PS to "push" the exposure to an approximate equivalent of ISO 800. I do like the result obtained and thought I would share.

Everyone is doing more than one shot, so I thought I'd continue the theme of Valentine's Day beauty. I took this rose this weekend with my Fuji FinePix S5100, natural light, ISO 100, Shutter Speed .62 seconds, f/5.0 using a tripod and 2 second self-timer to eliminate camera shake. I did some post processing on this to desaturate the color which was a bit intense.

Colchester Point, Vermont. Again, Fuji S5100. No manipulation required... ;-)

Eye of the beholder

Maybe nothing to do with beauty but just got this P&S and am having big fun with it.. Fuji F20,ISO 2000, very low natural light.. Used 2 sec self timer with camera sitting on top of drink glass..

My girlfriend took this one , also ISO 2000 , a little better lighting

I'm happy to see that things are finally moving a little here.

The deadline is in one week.

Indeed, you are right. Feb.27 will not be on a Saturday. I don't know what I was thinking.

I'm almost sure that I'll be extending the deadline, because I really want more entries.

Thank you for participating!

I know you said that we could enter as many photos as we wanted. Do we have to post them all in the same post? Probably would be less confusing for you right?

Ahh, LX2, I have been thinking about getting one of those. I actually dont have a p&s cam with me at the moment, have been thinking of getting one to carry around but its hard to choose. Have been thinking of the LX2 but the excessive noise os pana sensors have kept me away so far. Also thought of just forgetting about raw and manual and just get a sony t200 which looks like it has a great build and very fun to use and pocketable. Also considered the DP1 but its expensive and I dont like the 28mm fixed lens... hard...

As many as you want, indeed. And you can post them however you want. I can organize the shots easily afterwards.

And, the Pana was always on my list of considerations. Never pulled the trigger because of price and the fact it wasn't weather proofed (good for bicycling). A friend bought this one, used it a month, and sold it to me at a good price. He didn't use it much- loves his K10D too much (my fault).
It has some quirks.
1. No ISO below 100. My Oly Stylus 720 goes to 64.
2. Shoots raw + jpeg when doing raw. No raw only. File size is huge! 87 shots on 2g card. Bigger than shooting K10D in raw + jpeg (92).
Don't know about noise yet. Only had it a week or two. Still getting used to it. Do like it a lot. Love format choices of 16:9, 3:2, and 4:3. It is beautifully made.
thanks

Won't be my last P&S. They don't take up much room!
