SD card format problem?

Hi - I'm using a Pentax Optio W20 and a 2 GB SD card that I've been using for years. I formatted the SD card in my PC in order to upgrade a laptop, and now the SD card isn't working.

I tried using the format utility here: Downloads - SD Card Association

But it still doesn't work in the camera - the camera still only sees the internal memory.

Another weird thing is the format utility report. It is reporting only 980 MB available, which is what my PC says when I look at the properties there.

In the worst case scenario where I have to replace it, what is the maximum size SD card this will hold?

I believe the owners manual tells you to always format the card in the camera. You may be plain out of luck. I've always just used the 2gb cards.
