Can I use my D FA lenses with a Pentax film SLR?

Yes, without any limitations. These lenses are designed for both digital and 35mm film cameras.

They have an aperture ring.

These are DA Lenses not D FA.

Only D FA can be used with SLR 35mm Bodies. The DA are exclusively Digital.

You can use DA lenses on film SLRs with the following caveats

If you use a camera that does not support "Program" exposure (ie. before the A series) then you are stuck at minimum aperture. This is also true for FA-J lenses and has nothing to do with being "digital". It will still work and meter but only at minimum aperture.

Most DA lenses will vignette (some don't) but I've used the DA 18-55 on a P30/P3 and cropped the result. Best to remove the hood as well. It still gave me more coverage than my 28mm wide.

here's a sample

18-50 DA "Kit" used w/ an *ist film body

shot @ 18mm...

full aperture controls were retained despite the lack of the aperture ring

it's quite interesting, and can be fun and creative...in some ways
