pentax-fa power zoom 28-105mm f4-5.6

Bought this baby yesterday - Jessops Sale - however no instruction manual.

Looking through the posts i understand that only manual power zoom works with my k10d.
Any help or pdf instruction manual appreciated.

Cheers Geoff

Have you tried pushing the zoom ring forward so that the words "power zoom" are revealed ?

it was already in that mode, but now I know there's fully manual zoom mode.
cheers Peter.

Any idea what the switch P A -> AS does?

Geoff.

I'm not totally sure if all these functions apply. I used to own both this camera and the very same lens. The manual for the PZ-1p had a detailed chapter on the power zoom function. Check page 78 in the attached PDF link.

I think all you get is power zoom, and the lens may retract to its smallest size when the camera is turned off. That's how it works with the MZ-3, anyway.

Someone needs to get onto pentax's case about power zoom and the functions.

They had promised to include, at the release of the K10D full power zoom support. to me that means 3 functions.

1) Image size tracking, using the focusing distance to zoom the lens and keep the center of the image (focusing center) at the same size
2) Zoom between min and max during exposure (they had some great shots to promote this with the PZ-1)
3) Via camera body controls switch between min and max zoom.

the retraction of the lens to minimum length was more of a throw in function.
