Vivitar 28mm f/2.5

I just got this the other day--I modded the flange so it could fit on my K10D and it's been attached ever since! It's a S/N #22xxxxxx and I love this lens! I'm getting better at focusing without a prism and when it's dialed in, she's tack-sharp!

Love love love this lens!

First shot is scaled down to 900px, second is a crop of the original.

Straight off the card!

Thought I'd share

Just for curiosity, have you tried shots at or near infinity with it? I've had two copies of this lens and neither really impressed me all that much, especially near the infinity mark.

I think I was sucked in by the serial starting with 22 which indicates that the lens is Kiron made. There seems to be an aura of optical brilliance surrounding anything Kiron made, but I've always regarded this lens as an exception to that hypothesis.

I suppose it's possible that I just happened to get two duds, so I'm curious to see more from your example.

Would be happy to oblige--here are a couple I took yesterday of the new building on campus that I shot at or near infinity, full frame shrunk to 900px wide and 100% crops of each, also 900px wide. I'm not entirely sure what to look for so if you could post what you see I would really really appreciate it. Also, keep in mind that the front element has some coating loss on the outside face.

I present to you, the University of Ontario Institute of Technology's General Motors of Canada Automotive Centre of Excellence. (UOIT's GMC ACE )

I have an M42 vivitar which also starts 22xxxxx and uses 62mm filters.

I have found it to be an excellent lens,

I am not sure it is the same exactly. Mine has a knurled metal focusing collar

I picked up one of these for my e-pl2, for which it approximates "normal" focal length. Its nicely built and nice to handle but my copy seems to have some pretty horrible artifacts even stopped down - namely CA on high contrast areas. You can see it nicely in this pic:

I dunno, maybe this is only my copy?

Hello dear Pentax forum members

I have just bought Pentax K 1000 SE with Promaster Spectrum 7 67mm Skylight 1A lens

Included in the package was Vivitar 28mm 1:2.5 Wide Angle lens

problem is that I can not install this Vivitar lens on the body of camera

Any suggestions please?
