Lensbabies

I was wondering if any of you used Lensbabies on either a K10D or K20D... how was it? Ease of use, etc, etc, etc...

I just ordered a pinhole adapter also, I want to try diffrent things with my camera other than the regular lenses.

I recently bought a Lensbay, and like it, although it takes some getting used to.

The Lansbaby is just an alternative to the norm lens. If you feel like experimenting a little and don't want to photoshop your images, get a lensbaby. I have a Lensbaby 2.0 with the macro kit for my K10D and I tend to use it every few months just to 'play' really. Here's my Lensbaby set on flickr.

Very interesting pictures indeed, I will probably buy one. It's the results I was expecting.

Well that's what I want to do experiment with "unusual" lenses, just to try something different. I really don't expect having it mounted on the camera everyday. It's like the pinhole adaptor, I definitely won't use it often.

Lensbaby 3.0 is reputed to be easier to use because the three threaded "posts" allow you to keep the setting. I know with my shaky hands, the 2.0 just would not work fo me.

oooo . . .I love the photos - you inspire me Dmitry. I have toyed with the idea of buying a Lensbaby but didn't really know what to expect. These shots are awesome! Guess I need to invest in one now and only hope I can do as well as you. It really is all in the eye of the beholder isn't it?

I agree, with Mike, good move indeed! I would have purchased G3 too, but was not sure what to expect from such unusual lens, so I settled for the one was on sale...

Be aware, these Lensebabies can be addictive

I did some "research" (google

) on the lensbabies, and tilt/shift lenses. Could you do about the same things with the lensbabies as with the tilt-shift lenses? I'm thinking about the perspective correction. I've seen that the selective focussing is widely demonstrated, but haven't seen any 'straight' buildings shot with the 'babies.
Any experience with that?

I deleted my two previous posts, as I think this lens test yielded better results with a more pleasing image. I also didn't want to use unnecessary bandwidth. This test was done with a Lensbaby 3G from f2.0 (wide-open) to f8.0. Light is diffused window light. The figurine is approximately 4 inches tall at the top of her wings by 3/34 inches long.

A lovely fairy leaning on a toadstool.

F2.0 @ 1/30 sec. Sensitivity 400 for all.

F2.8 @ 1/15 sec

F4.0 @ 1/8 sec

F5.6 @ 1/4 sec

F8.0 @ 1/2 sec

As I've said previously, this lens takes a little getting used to, but I think I'm getting the hang of putting the sweet spot just where I want it, and focusing accurately. It's nice to work again with a lens that doesn't do anything by itself, and causes you to think.

F2.0 is a little soft, almost mushy, but gives a nice dream-like effect.

By f2.8 the girl's face and her butterfly friend are acceptably sharp, and pretty sharp @ f5.6.

I also have f11, f16 and f22, but didn't post them, as there really wasn't much of a difference after f8.0.
