For those who have the DA35/2.8...

I'd like to ask those of you who have the DA35/2.8 macro, is it an "appropriate" lens for general all-round use as a "normal" lens? Would you consider it "better" than using a FA35/2 or a DA40/2.8 as a "normal" lens?

great "normal." I liken it to a swiss army knife. You can shoot close or shoot street. Portraits in a pinch. Tends to be a tad dark sometimes but fixable in post. Bokeh is great, colors are great, and its a limited.

I haven't used the other two that you list so I can't compare those.

If you don't mind the size and weight, I think it's a better one than the DA40. Built quality is definitely better than the FA35.

For general use, the macro or closeup feature is very interesting and useful.

Thanks guys. I got the 21/40/70 pancakes in addition to the 35/2 and several 50s (not to mention older M and A glass). Instead, I got a new 50/1.2 to replace my other one which I wasn't totally happy with. Optically, it is just fine, but it looks awful. I like my stuff looking nice, so when I get the new one, I'll put the older one up for sale. Maybe in the summer when the prices come down a bit, I'll get the 35/2.8 macro. Looks like a nice lens, from the images people have been posting.
