Da* 50-135 vs Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8

I have the Da*50-135 and i am thinking of selling it for the Tamron 70 - 200mm f/2.8 DI LD (IF) Macro or maybe just buying the tammy. I already have the 28-75 f/2.8 so i am not sure if i really need my da* and i dont know which has better optical quality.

Any suggestions.

Well, one thing for sure, the DA* has SDM, which will focus faster and quieter. From what I've seen, the tammy is quite soft wide open. I don't know about the DA*, but some said theirs are sharp wide open. It all depends on how you define the level of sharpness. If you think your DA* is soft, then switching to the Tamron might be a good idea since you have longer range. It's better to just get the Tamron and compare the two.

I recently made a similar choice between the DA* and the Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8, which I have owned before. And decided to get the 50-135mm. It is a much better lens than the Sigma... So, my suggestion is to buy the DA* 200mm to make up for the lack of reach..

How could you have had a choice? The Sigma 70-200/2.8 hasn't been released yet...

The sigma has been out for quite a few years... There is a new version, however, that has not yet been released...

Just handled the Tammy 70-200mm f2.8 for canon in a shop the other day,it feels very nice, and much lighter than i thought it would be. it looks cool too. Definitely one for the shortlist....
