The above picture reminds me of something when I look at the guitarist. Like another band photo or something.






It is not often I meet other people who has an equal interest in photography, but I ran into a guy with a 30D, and another with a D80, perfect setup for a little talk about equipment.


(And the pictures are generally not tack sharp because: a) The artists does move around, and 1/30s. is pretty much borderline for capturing their movements and b) I stood in the middle of the crowd, and lifted the camera above my head in order to avoid the heads in front of me. )

Jay, your wonderful comments are doing my confidence the world of good. But, you have to stop posting such great shots with all these different M lenses, you are going to kill my already small budget.. LOL!! Seriously, loved all your dusk shots. You are so lucky to be up and about at that time, i'm not, so i always miss such photo ops.

KjetilH, such sharp detailed pics from your first post. You did exceptionally well for over the head shots at the concert.


Here's a couple more taken yesterday. These were shot wide open and at F2 at around 3pm.




The building on the left is a big block of apartments.

Jay, thanks for posting shots from the M 1.4. You did a great job capturing the water droplets.
Nice capture in #3 with the tiny bug. My favourite is the last shot with the bokeh. It has very nice detail and sharpness with the bud and the droplets of water underneath.

Shot a couple with the K 35 f/3.5, then switched to the M 50 - interesting
comparison between these two shots, taken one after the other - The K 35's
color is a little 'warmer', perhaps. (No PP, and K shot is stopped down more)

Thanks Ann! Unbelievable how sharp your 1.7 can be wide open and at f/2.

That's a very intersting comparison between the two lenses. I actually prefer the K 35 f/3.5 pic.
Too me, it has a greater/nicer depth of colour and the water droplets seem a tad sharper.

In pics #2, #3 and #4 i did sharpen them a little in Picasa.
From my testing so far, my 1.7 loves the 1.7 to 2.8 range. I can't wait to try some night shots with it. That's my next challenge

Jay, I think the big difference may simply be the focal lengths. The 35mm is taking in more of the scene, so you're getting more lighting to average. A more even exposure simply because of the field of view.

Jim, interesting idea, that could be it. But I have noticed that the K 35 is very, very good
with color, I just haven't been able to pinpoint anything specific due to lack of comparitive
shots... Now I'm going to have to try more 35/50 comparisons...

Here's a shot from an M50/1.7 and a shot from a M28/2.8. Both ISO 200. K100D Super. Not sure of the aperture. That's something to consider for night-time shooting with an M lens: a small torch to confirm your aperture setting. Judging by the exposure times I suspect the M28 was stopped down more than the M50.

I love the look of older Pentax film SLRs. Why don't they release one new digital one that wold look just like that! The 50th anniversary K10D came close, but never made it into production. Shame . So the last ones were *ist DL (maybe DL2) in the dual colour scheme. Shame then didn't carry that scheme over to K series.... Hopefully they will again....
