Congratulations on your purchase. I have never used this lens, but have heard good things about it. I thought I was going "long" when I bought my 135/3.5 Actually, for the type of shooting I do, 135mm is about as long as I will need.
Nice shot, NaClH20. Do you know anything about your lens' predecessor--i.e. the screwmount 300/4? I would gather the performance would be quite similar, but I do not know for sure.

Its a nice lens. My copy has been in the wars but I love it; its the size of the DA200mm according to the specs I've read!
Only cons are; my copy can have a bit of CA wide open in certain situations (backlit tree branches), so I try to stop down if I can. I'm a bit doubtful about how it would perform with a TC but I don't have one anyway.
Manual focus throw is quite long, so you do have to turn the barrel quite a bit to change focus.
Minimum focus distance is 4 metres, which can be problematic if trying to get bird pictures.
Its lovely and light though; I was carrying it around all day for fieldwork and I'd happily sling it in my back around the city too.
