Out of curiosity, do you guys consider Rollei an off-brand?
Only if you do!
There are so many brand names that are less known today and get no respect as a result. As you know, this thread has examples of truly obscure labels (e.g. Rexatar) as well as some with a very respectable reputation at the time they were made. The SX Mamiya/Sekor line is a very good example.
So...did Rollei make 35mm SLR lenses in M42 or K-mount? The Rolleiflex 35mm SLRs had CZ optics in Rollei bayonet mount if I remember correctly (the original made-in-Germany 35SL was a very nice little camera).
Not sure on the SX series Steve, there's nothing on the lenses to indicate they are but they have the auto aperture switch if that means anything. The lens coatings are yellowish like the Super Takumar 50mm f1.4s.
I did a little research with the Mamiya manuals on butkus.org and found illustrations of the SX lenses that lack the SX designation. The older, non-SX versions have metal ribbed focus rings. From what I can tell, the updated SX versions have knurled focus rings. The SX versions also have a modification on the mount that allows open aperture metering on compatible bodies. (IIRC, there is an issue with those lenses on some non-Mamiya M42 bodies.)

BTW...the SX lenses have an excellent reputation...

Mamiya did make some 35mm Lenses for Rollei before Mamiya got out of the 35mm cameras ~1984. Rollei also made some lenses in M42.
