Only if you do!

There are so many brand names that are less known today and get no respect as a result. As you know, this thread has examples of truly obscure labels (e.g. Rexatar) as well as some with a very respectable reputation at the time they were made. The SX Mamiya/Sekor line is a very good example.

So...did Rollei make 35mm SLR lenses in M42 or K-mount? The Rolleiflex 35mm SLRs had CZ optics in Rollei bayonet mount if I remember correctly (the original made-in-Germany 35SL was a very nice little camera).

I did a little research with the Mamiya manuals on butkus.org and found illustrations of the SX lenses that lack the SX designation. The older, non-SX versions have metal ribbed focus rings. From what I can tell, the updated SX versions have knurled focus rings. The SX versions also have a modification on the mount that allows open aperture metering on compatible bodies. (IIRC, there is an issue with those lenses on some non-Mamiya M42 bodies.)

BTW...the SX lenses have an excellent reputation...

Mamiya did make some 35mm Lenses for Rollei before Mamiya got out of the 35mm cameras ~1984. Rollei also made some lenses in M42.

Quick Googling tells me they are non SX versions of the Mamita Sekor lenses. The 50mm f2 is the first version with the metal aperture change ring.

Oh...you mean like the one mounted on this 500TL?

Borrowed from Ron Herron's Mamiya camera site: Mamiya TL and DTL 35mm Cameras

Pretty lens!

Yep that's the one Steve. The 55mm lens has all black body with the front metal polished rim.

Mine is close but with a polished or chromed front rim rather then the black plated rim.

Johnno,

Yes, I'm enjoying the bonding process - I like the wide focal length in a prime. It will definitely be a keeper for me.

Is "enjoying the bonding process" a wise choice of words with a PK-A/R lens?

After all, that Rikoh pin may make the 'bonding process' a literal nightmare!
