Is the first one a rose hip? It looks like a strange kind of octopus!
Thanks for the kind words.
Yes, image one is a Rose hip; the second, a Hosta; the third, Rose of Sharon. Each subject was shot RAW at a close focus of (say) 3 feet, then the images were "quick and dirty" crop composd, slightly sharpened and resized to 600dpi (exported) using Picasa.
That K20D has some sensor... eh?

Quick and dirty test shot with the Super Takumar 55mm f/1.8 I got off JC Sullivan.
I actually haven't cleaed the glass yet ... not that it really needed it anyway.
Mandarins and Oranges on a bowl on the kitchan table in the afternoon sun.
I am amazed at the quality of these lenses ... I have just zoomed in as far as I can go prior to pixelating the image on my PC here ... And the core on the screen is huge on that orange that is in focus ... it's more like a 1:1 Macro shot that anything.

The 35/3.5 is a very fine lens and one which seems to be sort of underrated, since there is also a 35/2 out there. Viewing shots by several folks, primarily Nesster, convinced me that I needed one despite already having the 28/3.5. I'm really glad I got it, since on walks it makes a much nicer approximation of a "normal" lens with the sensor crop than do the 50mm lenses.
Thanks Mike - I've gone the other sequence, admiring the 28's, especially yours, and ended up with two of them. I think the 35/3.5 is unusually lucid for a lens.
Meanwhile, some cheap DOF with the Auto Tak 55/1.8 on a Spotmatic. I had to reload film while sitting there and left the bottom of the camera case... when I returned a couple of hours later it was still there. I picked up the habit of keeping the bottom of the case on with my OM2s, which feels small without one. The case gives an extra grip as well as protects the body. I don't always use them with the Pentax KX and Spot, but that day I had one on.
And what the 35/3.5 does with reds is simply amazing, isn't it?

She quite naturally looks surprised at being the subject of a candid photo, but we exchanged smiles and waves, so all was good. I'm becoming quite fond of cropping to 8x10 proportions here lately.
Nesster ... that is a nice shot of the bench ... gotta love film grain ... I can see in this image that Grain and Noise are 2 totally different things indeed.
I need a chance to get out with the 35mm and see what I can get with it ... althouigh since i just got my 5rmm f/1.8 ... it might be fighting for camera time with it ... i am find the 55mm to be a nice lens as well.
So many choices ... so little time.
