My has part number 30120 too. And the bag looks the same. So I'd say its genuine. Is the "Pentax" on it painted or engraved?

Zewrek, mine is engraved. Now I need to find a lens to put on it.
I was outbid on a super mc Tak 85 1.8 last night on ebay
Man, did I want that lens!

Hopefully someone here bought it and I can still enjoy some pics until I find another. ( fingers crossed )

You have to settle for a 35/3.5 for now.

Hi all, I'm new to Takumars & screw mount, and pretty new to this site (apart from lurking).

I just bought a Takumar 55/1.8 in beautiful condition from someone on the Marketplace, and managed to find a genuine Pentax adaptor for my K100D in little old Adelaide, which surprised me.

I'm pretty happy with the lens and dare say it's not my last Takumar!

I have a question - how should I tighten the lens into the adaptor? There is not much of the lens body to grip, and I'm wary of using the focus ring in case it damages or misaligns something? The lens has started unscrewing itself a couple of times as it's nott that tight. Should the red index against which the f-stop is read be at the top of the camera?

Here are a few initial shots, provided I can get them to show up in my post. I know they don't compare to some of the amazing shots in this thread!

Some of the market purchases a bit later in the day!

I screw mine fairly firm ... just to make sure it stays on ... the middle of the "window" should be dead centre when looking down at it.

I mount the adaptor to the camera mount ... and then screw the lens in till firm.

You beat me to that 55mm ... hope you enjoy it ... for that price ... it was pretty much a bargain. Looks like you have put it to good use already.

Thanks Mechan1k. What do you grip the lens by? The obvious thing is to turn the focus ring all the way to the close focus end, and when it stops, put further pressure on the ring to tighten the lens. But I haven't done that as I am scared of damaging the focus mechanism. And there's not much else of the lens to grip. With a name like Mechan1k you should be able to help me! :-)

Yes, I think I got a good deal and am really enjoying this lens.

I grip the non-moving part of the lens and turn it that way ... between aperture ring and focus ring ... this is the best way I have found.

I just give the thing a good grip and snug it down middling firm without worrying about where I'm gripping. I generally have both the focusing barrel and the aperture ring under my fingers, though.

With my adapter what would normally be top-dead-center is actually off to the right a bit, when viewed from above the camera. I consider it an added feature, because otherwise I would never be able to see beneath the built-in flash protrusion.

The snug point for mounting an M-42 is often places the focus scale index mark just a little to the right of center. At least that is the way it is for my Rikenon, Jupiter-9, and my M-42 Adaptall-2 mount. Hard to say why that is.

To hold the adaptor firmly when screwing it on the lens I sometimes use a rear lens cap off a k mount lens. This works to untighten it as well if I want to take it off a lens and put it on another.

You mean you don't mount the adapter to the camera and then mount the lenses to it?

I always have the adapter on the camera and unscrew/screw the lens into the camera. It never leaves the house.
