Takumar club

Add to the M, K and Off Brand clubs: your Takumars! What works in setup, what doesn't work, and lots of lovely results!

To get started, here are some with a Super-Tak 50/1.4 plus 24mm extension tube, hand held at either 1/6th or 1/20th I took last night just for fun.

Those wide angle Takumars are excellent, I feel the need for some myself (I max out at 35mm). And I'm still kicking myself for not buying the 135/3.5 when the local store had one. Good photos, folks!

Here's an Auto-Takumar 55/1.8:

A S-M-C version of the 55/1.8:

And the Super-Tak again with an extension tube into a 2x converter:

From the look of these posts, this is definitely the high-class club. I guess the reputation of this early glass is well-deserved!

You can use them in AV or M exposure modes, but will require an m-42 to K-mount adapter. Be sure to avoid the "flanged" type adapter. Pentax brand is best, though the Bower model sold by B&H is supposed to be good as well.

You do need an adapter. I've shot thousands of images on my K100D with Takumar lenses.

The really nice thing is that you can fill up your camera bag with great prime lenses for what you'd have to pay for one really nice new lens.
