Hope this helps

Well not really, but some things are a little different.

Tips: Make sure your camera is set to permitted under custom settings. Also, the green button did nothing for me so I just attach the M lens, set to MF from AF to the left of the lens. Turn on camera, set focal length for SR, Set camera to M mode, set aperture, Use focus ring to focus and take pic. I get my exposure right by making sure my aperture is set correctly and shutter speed is set properly. I know this is not technically detailed properly but I hope you can get the gist of it.

I do this with an M lens -

Set camera to Av Mode, set aperture on lens. press AEL or half-press shuter button (I think- I have K20D with green meter button), if shutter speed needs changing move aperture ring and re-meter, then shoot.

Focus indicator in viewfinder works very well with manual focus lens.

Sounds complicated but in practice is very quick.

I have ISO set to Auto 100-800 which the Av mode will use.
Be careful when using M mode - ISO will need setting manually as well.
Pentax 'Hyper' function on all parameters is extremely handy when using many types of lenses.

I'm still really confused as to getting this to work. I'm sure it's a lot simpler than I think.

I have the k200d and use m series lenses all the time, it's easy.

1 custom settings # 23 set to 2(permitted)
2 turn camera off
3 mount lens
4 turn camera on when it starts it will ask for the focal length of the lens.

If you are in manual mode set your aperture to what you want it, then to meter press the green button it will approximate the exposure then take your pic.

I'm not sure how aperture priority mode works I don't use it.

Hope that helps

This is only true with SR on. If it is off the screen will not come up. When this question pops up I always point people out to this step-by-step guide that was made for the K100D:

Naturally there will be some differences between this and the K200D but i figure anyone who buys a DSLR will be able to figure those differences out on their own. Good luck!
