The Sigma sounds like it has BF/FF issues as well depending on what aperture/focal length you're at :-P

I'll still wait to see the final results when shot on a Pentax.

I do find the the Tamron's f32 (vs the Sigma's f22) and it's lighter weight desirable, but the final IQ is what maters most to me. And a test shot on another system might be different than what I shoot.

Me too. But some problems are problems despite the platform. I can't see how the large CA of Sigma would be absent on a Pentax mount, or how Tamron with out an HSM motor would focus faster than a Sigma with one.

With the lenses from Sigma, Tamron & Tokina I've noticed usually people are buying wide angle from Tokina, standard from Tamron & telephoto from Sigma.

Tokina is out of the question for new glass for Pentax (except in the form of Pentax branded clones).
My wish / property list is quite the opposite from what you describe (Sigma 10-20mm, Pentax midrange prime, Sigma Macro 105mm and probably Tamron 70-200mm.)
Right on the subject now, despite the "rounded talk" of the article, is obvious that Sigma 70-200 has IQ problems compared to Tamron. So if Tamron 70-200 proves to have a decent autofocus speed/accuracy on Pentax bodies, is the clear choice for me.
When, is another story...

I don’t know if it’s true or not but again according to numerous comments Pentax 12-24mm f/4 and Tokina 12-24mm f/4 optically is the same lens.

In mid range many people are using Tamron 28-75mm f/2.8. And then you have numerous good quality telephoto lenses from Sigma: 100-300mm f/4 , 120-300mm f/2.8, 150mm f/2.8 & 300mm f/2.8

The sigma seems quite poor at 200mm, it seems to follow the typical zoom lens quality progression.

In contrast the Tamron seems much better at 200mm that at 135mm. I know with most long lenses (and 200mm is not very long.) you are going to be using it at the longest setting you can.

The same findings for SIGMA and TAMRON came from optyczne.pl
Also I noticed that even at it's weakest focal length Tamron fares better than SIGMA IQ wise.

I was set on the Sigma until the reviews. Looks like its going to be the Tamron, hope the results on a Pentax body are better for the AF.

Eagerly awaiting the Tamron variant.
No-HSM does not bother me in the slightest really.
If it's anything like my Tamron 90mm Macro lens ... I reckon it's well worth getting.
Especially at the price that it should hit the shelves at.

It's about the only "new" lens that i am REALLY interested in.
