(again) about Zeiss 85 T* ZK

My friend wants to sell this lens.
The price is really good but I'm undecided.

I try to find something about this lens, but I have found few and nonconforming informations to realize the really quality of it.

I try to find in this site too, but there are few discussions...

do you think it can be a funny lens considering I've got 77 and A*85 yet?

let me know...
thanks:

Seriously I have seen no evidence why Zeiss 85mm f1.4 is really a winner over A* 85mm f1.4 given pentax lens does fringe a lot more with wider aperture. Basicly that is all about it.

With the perspective of a lens collector, you would love another pristine lens. However, I doubt that would a necessary lens for photography point of view.

Fa 77 ltd at least has that autofocus capability to justify its purchase while you have the ownership of A* 85mm. Another manual focus of similar focal length without any particular feature comparing to what A* 85mm f1.4 is capable of is really not worthwhile. I have seen no stunning bokeh from Zeiss 85mm so far and its image rendering is not much different from the samples in flickr.

Unless you can buy one and shoot a range of scenes, posting here for our pleasure to decide what is the winning lens

the lens is travelling....

I have a couple of questions....(sent to german Zeiss too).

Why this lens for Sony has 8 elements in 7 groups, and the lens for other brands has 6 elements in 5 groups?

Then, about the 85 for pentax: in the paper there is drawn the scheme with 6 elements and in the box there is drawn the scheme with 6 elements...why?

answer from german zeiss:

Dear Mr. Del Negro,

Thanks for your request.
The lens shown on the test certificate of our SLR lenses is just symbolic - it has nothing to do with your Planar T* 1,4/85 ZK.
Your lens contents 6 lenses in 5 groups, as shown in the data sheet for this lens (identical with the ZF version):

The Sony Planar T* 1,4/85 ZA (for Sony Alpha) is a totally different lens - it was specially designed for the cameras of the Alpha system.
Other 85mm lenses of other brands may also base on other lens designs - they content other glass types, so their optical design might also be different.
On the market there are more than 200 different glass types available, and each manufacturer designs other 85mm lenses out of them.

Best Regards

Bertram Hönlinger
