I could let my minty K85 go at that price. I don't think that will ever happen in N.A. where supply is a bit greater than Aus or Euro.

I can't understand the fuss over the K 85/1.8 lens.
I had one for awhile and was not particularly impressed.
I prefer the SMC Pentax-M 100/2.8 I currently own.

And it's not the difference in focal length. When I used Nikon
I preferred their 85/1.8 to the "legendary" 105/2.5 Nikkor...

I wouold rather take a K20

At the price of that lens, (which I would love to have to go along with my K50F1.4 and K135F2.5) I can think of better ways to spend $1100 including a K20D!

Do I want a K85 F1.8 yes, do I want it that badly NO WAY

ChrisPlatt. What sort of price would you pay again for the M 100 2.8 as there is one going at the moment - reviews on this site appear OK.

regards
Kevin

I paid $130-140 shipped for mine (can't remember precisely, but it was more than $130 with shipping.)

You can sometimes find them cheaper, but when you're bothering to buy Takumars,
it's nice to get them minty, so they keep that "limited" feel/look

I had been watching for a K 85mm at a decent price, but it never happened. Instead I ended up with an old Vivitar T mount 85mm f1.8. It's great stopped down, but open has such crazy bokeh and softness it's actually hard to focus. I end up stopping down to 4 in order to get things sharp, and then opening back up at times.

I would definitely be able to let it go for a grand... :-)

The M 100/2.8 goes for $100-150 depending on condition.

Auto Takumar 85 /1.8

Did someone use this as a camera lens or grenade?

Yes there are those who trade up slowly, as can be seen on Ebay and in the market place, but prices are getting out of hand,

perhaps then Pentax's selling point of backward compatability is slowly becoming less important.

if 35/2's taks are going for nearly the same price as FA35's, something is definetly screwed in the system

The original subject of the thread was relisted on EBay & then was sold immediately for $Aus888.88- obviously something fishy going on.

I have just received an email stating this lens has just been relisted. I was following this bid too.
