So I read the review of this lens over at Pop Photo and thought it might be worthy of some consideration. I emailed Sigma US to see if there was an anticipated release date. Alas, Sigma responds:
Don,
Thank you for your interest in Sigma products.
As of right now there is no date set for production for that lens in the pentax mount.

I love my Pentax and don't plan on jumping ship, but it's crap like this that makes being a Pentax owner so dang frustrating. Pentax won't make the products that owners want and we get the shaft from the third party makers a good portion of the time.

I'm assuming it's the 120-400mm f/2.8. Thing is, they would sell so many of these to Pentax users, especially if it comes in around the $700-800 mark.
How many do they think they will sell in Canon mount? With all the problems I hear regarding Sigma lenses on the EOS mount, I'm surprised there are any Canon users left that buy Sigma lenses.

Actually, the only Sigma 120-400mm that I've seen announced is the "APO 120-400mm F4.5-5.6 DG OS HSM". HSM would be great for a long lens (presumably faster focusing).
Well, if it's years between the announcement and the release I'll be pissed, but if it's 6 months, that wouldn't be so bad.
As a further update, I saw a a listing for this lens in a Pentax mount on a popular auction site. Given what Sigma told me the seller must be considering this a 'preorder', but there was no mention of that in their listing. Grrrr.
