Dificult question.. or maybe not...

I have the oportunity to buy an FA31mm for 500€.

The catch is... i can only spend 250€ (tops... )

Now the question:
Would you sell an FA35+FA50 to gather funds for the FA31?

I really like my FA35, but on the other hand i already have the FA77, with the FA31 would be the perfect wedding...

Really from what I have read and heard ... there is literally bugger all difference between the DA35 and FA31 .... except the FA31 can be used on a full frame camera where as the DA is APS-C.

He did say he has the FA 35mm f/2, not the DA 35mm f/2.8.

The question is, can you afford to lose a fast 50mm in order to gain 1/3 stop and 4mm?

I have all three lenses - and no, I wouldn't do it. The FA35 is a fine lens optically. It is even sharper than the 31mm. The 31mm nevertheless has a very fine image rendering and its built is simply superb. But if you have to give up the 50mm, the little advantage you may gain with the 31mm over the 35mm is IMHO not worth it. At the end, you may even find, that the FA35 was the better lens for you, as "image rendering" is a highly subjective term.

i had the FA35 for a short while and then the FA31.
i'm not sure i would be able to tell from a side to side comparison.
the bokeh on the FA35 is supposed to be a bit rough, i prefer the FA31 because of the build quality

Ooops ... my bad.
Don't post stuffon a forum after nightshift when half asleep ... LOL

In that case ...I am not sure I'd sell the FA35 + FA50 to get the FA31 Ltd.
The FA35 is still meant to be a pretty decent lens ... and I duddno if i could let my FA50 lens go if it was my decision ... I love it way too much.

It would be sinful not to have a fifty.

And to look at it another way, the FA 35 and FA 50 are siblings. Do you want to be responsible for a broken home?

FWIW, I don't have *any* of the lenses in question, but would suggest another option to consider: sell the FA35 & FA50 to get the FA31 if you like, but also replace the FA50 with an M or A 50, which shouldn't cost more than 30€ or so.
