A wedding and one lens - it'd be the DA35ltd. Wide aperture, decent bokeh, macro for detail shots - I'd rather come away with 30 fantastic shots than 400 that captured the day but didn't capture the imagination.

As for group shots - talk them out of too many group shots ;0)

I'd be interested in your experiences regarding IQ.

Does Sigma offer anything comparable?

I'm looking for a fast zoom which includes 28mm with prime like IQ and DA* lenses are a bit on the steep side pricewise.

The Tamron 17-50 beats all the fast zooms in IQ. Go to Photozone and see. It was only tested in Nikon mount, but they are not testing the mount. If my wife made me sell all my lenses she would have to pry the Tamron from my cold dead hands.
