Wow are you ever so lucky to get as close to those planes as you do. I go by my airport (Toronto International) to find the old spots where I used to watch the jets take off or land - they're either paved over and fenced off or there's a building there.

You are getting some really nice shots!

my corner

I do have a pretty good spot to shoot from.. In the pic,Flickr Photo Download: home bottom left is the north end of our small county airport. The house to the right of the corner is mine.. It doesnt have much traffic, anywhere from 0-10 planes a day Id say, a few more in the summer..

I recently got a well-used Adaptall-2 copy of this lens and the SP 2X TC. It's sure a lot lighter than the Pentax A*300/2.8 equivalent!

Haven't had good enough weather so I could spend time outside using it, but tests so far look really good. I hope I can do as well as your plane shot!

Regards, Jim

My lens is also well used but the glass is good.. I have the 1.4X converter with it as well & think its quite a bit sharper than the 2x.. Here is a shot of the same plane leaving . It is with the 300/2.8+1.4X . The light was getting bad & had to go up to iso800 to get 1/250 .. Flickr Photo Download: _IGP2327_hf wildherre

You know where the International Centre - Hall #6 is?. The one thats near the Airport. Theres a Wendys Restaurant just a short walk down the street. Its literally right on the landing path. The planes fly right over head. Just set up on the parking lot out back and you'll get great shots every time!

You know you got a pretty serious case of LBA when you end up buying the same lens twice...

I also have the Adaptall-2 1.4X TC in addition to the 2X. I just received it and have yet to try it out. Your shot with it on the SP 300/2.8 looks promising! Thanks for posting.
