Sigma DC EX 10-20mm - Mini Review

Just a quick review ;-)

I got this lens yesterday and have been testing it out..

Pros
- Even wide open it is surprisingly sharp (not changing all that much when stopped down)
- Good contrast and colour rendition
- Decent AF speed (though MF is useless, its so wide at 10mm it always looks in focus to my eyes)
- Very good price for such a wide zoom lens.
- Sharp through to the edges (not corners though).
- Minimum focusing distance of only 24cm

Cons
- Bulky, which is typical for Sigma, though not too heavy.
- On the slow side f4-5.6
- Soft in the extreme corners, regardless of apeture.

Wide open (10mm @ F4) Sample Picture

This lens could produce interesting results in cave photography.

Very nice post, narrow depth of field is well demonstrated

i would love to use that in landscape a lot

Hi Joel,
If you don't mind me asking, where did you end up buying the 10-20 from?
I am also keen to get this lens as it will help with my Architectural shots especially inside on our finished jobs.

Cheers,
John

You can order on line Digital Cameras, All Major Brands, Discounted Now at Camerastore.com.au! or camere warehouse.com.au etc

In CBD, Teds, Cameralane or JBhi5 would have them as well. About 600 to 700 dollars.

If you are close to Geelong, visit Scott Rylance who is the camera store manager there. You can private him there

I actually got mine as exchange for some work/photos, but as James above pointed out they are widely available here...

Can't see the photo.

Question in the meantime: This is a superwide rectilinear? (not a fisheye?)

Thanks.

Scott Rylance is the member in this forum too. Go to the member list and his name in alphabetical order. Send him a private message regarding the item. He might help you out there.

He told me that he ran a camera store there before. Speak to him or you can just pop into city stores.

I ordered my bigma from camerastore.com.au and the service was pretty good with me. Fast delivery and good packageing of the lens.

You are welcome

Hi John,
I run the Camera/Computer area at Retravision in Geelong. I don't have the lens in stock, but can get it in. Pop in and see me or give me a call and I can get you a price.

Cheers.
