Rear cap question on 18-55 mkII

I just received a new kit II from BH (for anyone interested, they have it in stock for $89.95 and free shipping, a very good price), and it came with one of those ugly - and I think unsafe - snap-on rear caps, rather than the usual Pentax K twist-lock kind.

Is this how everyone else's came? I am surprised Pentax would cut corners like that for what is likely less than a dime worth of cost difference. I never got a new pentax lens with a snap-on cap before. The lens looks untouched, intact packaging, wrapping etc.

Mine came with the same cap as yours. I don't think it is unsafe, but as you I like the K twist-lock kind better. I think it really has to do with costs and economics.

Thanks.

I find that the snap-ons are more likely to come off inside a bag, especially if you are not extra careful in pushing them all the way down. I guess I'll just buy a generic PK rear cap. Stupid of Pentax though.

So was mine, just got it last week with K20D. Never seen one before. Maybe they think that you'll have one lens attached all the time...
