Am I crazy to want the 15mm, 35mm, and 70mm Limiteds
along with
the Voigtländer 20mm, 40mm, and 58mm SLIIs?
I try to justify the obvious overlap in that one's a MF only set and the other would be pretty much limited (heh, no pun intended) to AF convenience. That, and I want to get a used MX, a brick of B&W film, and try my hand at home film development, hence the lust for the VLs.
Oh, and anyone here have any experience using MF for kids and other fast moving objects? Because then maybe I could kick the LBA down a little and just go for the VLs.
Edit: the VLs are a touch faster too, so that's another plus. One final consideration to get the Limiteds as well as the VLs is that MF using the K200D is a little iffy...
I have the A20, A24, 31LTD, 43LTD, 58 Nokton and 77LTD.
Mix and match, I shoot with all. With kids go wider and let DOF help with the focus. Or, just expect blurry pictures and just say your subject was moving.

That's the way I'd like to take... Not getting full series of FAltd or DAltd etc...
I'd like to go mix & match
so to start with I have FA31, DA40, F50 (maybe one day to be replaced DA*55), and I'd like to add FA24, DA70 or FA77 and later DA21 or 14/15 (I'm leaning to 14 because of 2.8)
anyway, bottom line, don't collect series, get lenses you'll use no matter what series...

Why not stick to the DA Limited primes:
15mm, 21mm, 35mm, 40mm, and 70mm
If you need something to fill that gap between 40mm and 70mm the FA50 or DA*55 are good alternatives to the Voigtlander 58mm ... and you have the choice of AF or MF on all your lenses.
Oh, and if the DA21 isn't fast enough for you, the Sigma 20mm f/1.8 is a good alternative ... if you're willing to deal with the huge size of that lens.

No, no, not at all. You need variety. You should also pick up the new Vivitar Series 1 85mm f1.4, and hunt Ebay for a Cosina 55mm f1.2.

I'd like to go back to film and try to develop my own b&w, so the other DA Limited's won't work out too well on an MX.
Also, the manual focus feel of the DA Limited's, while nice, is nowhere near as good as made for MF lenses like the VL or the Zeiss K mount ones.
But your post does tempt me to get the other DA Limited's, just to complete the series.
Yes, that's it: "... just to complete the series." Speaking of Zeiss lenses, they could be next on your list, or perhaps you could look for some longer old manual focus primes. Think of all the possibilities if you start to include M42 mount lenses...

No, your logic makes perfect sense to me. In there is a nice set for AF and a nice set for MF. Nutty would be to have a DA Limited set and an FA limited set and a Voigtlander set and a Zeiss set. That would be nutty (to have all four lines) but two or three of them... no problem......
