Taking a trip to Washington, DC
I have the kit lens and a FA 50. Any suggestions on another lens I
should rent from cameralensrental.com

If they have the DA 55-300 I'd get it. If you want to try to recreate those views of the Mall with multiple landmarks "stacked" together, this lens will come in handy. Plus, it gives you 18-300 in three fairly small, lightweight lenses.

Trip to Washington DC
I am taking exactly that, plus the 16-45mm even if it provides redundancy to the kit 18-55mm II.
Do take a tripod, depending on what hour you plan to be out there shooting.
