Then I saw a DA 35 LTD Macro in the display case (Mistake two).

I aksed what the price was fully expecting Price: $677.60 CDN (Mistake three) .

Well three wrongs make a right (well three lefts make a right , right haha) Purchase price was $449 Cdn

100% crop of how impressed he was

I wanted this to take inside at social functions. Something I could stick on the K20D sans battery grip and not look so much like a Paparazzi A close up lens , prime for being really annoying stick in your face ...something other than my fisheye. I think I am going like this one in Vegas ...

So for those Canadians that want this Lens check out your McBains, they may have some at the old price.

A bad (good) case of spring LBA/CBA for me it seems

hahaha... funny, I did something similar. I now own a DA35 Macro Limited (And also got it at a very similar price).

We Canadians have to get them while the price is still good!

I bought mine there too, and then realized the price seemed higher everywhere else, even the states.

Wonderful lens minus the lack of focus limiter, built in hood is fantastic. Didn't keep it long, though. (if I still shot digital/bodies with Av control I would have it)

I ordered mine from McBain yesterday as well. Hope to have it in my hands tomorrow. It'll be my last Pentax lens for a while, maybe for good, given their new exorbitant prices.

You brought another lens!...a nice reward for all your effort losing those lbs. It's a great lens, Dave. I'm sure you'll enjoy using.

Well done, Dave, seems to me the lba has got a bit of a hold. But what the heck! Why not? You only live once!

Welcome to the club, Dave.....it's a fun lens to shoot with. My guess is that it'll be right up there with the 10-17 as one of your favorites.

Now why did you have to show me that price? I need another lens like I need another speeding ticket. In the good old days when the numbers got worn down on your credit card it was a sign you're using it too much. Nowadays I need more self-restraint.

Alan I think you are right - the focus is pretty slow getting close (slower than the fisheye I think ) not much of a concern.

Larry - you have some really nice long glass there - I covet those 'need' is such a subjective word - think of it as you have already said you can save over $200 on getting something you want

I bought mine from McBain as well before all the price hike; used Aden Camera to price match and got it slightly cheaper.

I have yet to use it much at this point but the FOV is so much better than the FA50 for indoor shots. The real bonus is that I don't have to worry about the min focus distance. This lens AF speed is only a bit slower than the FA50 when used with my k200d; but it AF a lot slower when mounted on the istDL.

I always reference this article by the T.O.P. duo:

That's how I got the 200 and 300 past the CFO! My long focal lengths are pretty well looked after and I'm a bit thick in the normalish department with a 35, 40 and 50. The wide end is still served admirably by your old 12-24. I toyed briefly with selling it, slapped myself, and now continue to enjoy it!
