The long awaited 60-250 is now available:

NEW PENTAX SMC PENTAX-DA* 60-250mm F4 ED IF SDM LENS - eBay (item 120403969908 end time May-09-09 00:19:04 PDT)

The ad states they have 6 of them. At $2000 each, I predict they will have 6 of them for a long time...

in Lithuania it is atleast 460USD cheaper and no additional taxes, which will add additional 25proc.

End time 9th May, they are gambling on Pentax releasing these on the 24th and that they will receive them in time to ship them out before the end of the auction.

I wouldn't bid on one even if I was waiting for this lens

.

The sad thing is, for $1500 you can buy a new Canon 40D and 70-200 f/4 USM.

Lose some focal range and weather sealing, but gain faster focus lock and a whole new K20D-class body, for pete's sake.

But... If it's got phenomenal IQ, maybe a ~$1200 price is reasonable...

I assume you talk about the non IS version (which btw is not as good optically either). So you lose both w.s. and IS in the process.
