Pentax 12-24 and Samsung dito - any difference?

Hi all,
Is there a difference between Pentax SMC-DA 12-24/4,0 ED AL IF and Samsung D-Xenon 12-24/4,0? I mean other than brand and price? Which one will produce the best pictures, given the same photographer?

The greatest difference :

B&H Pentax DA 12-24 : $699.95
B&H Samsung Xenon 12-24 : $899.95
=
+ $200.00

DxO Optics use the same module for both. This would indicate that they are completely optically identical, and even to the coatings in all probability.

I have the Samsung 12-24mm, I cant prove it but I think it has the SMC coating, as I take pleasure pointing the lens to sun direction and have not yet found annoying lens flare and ghosting, something that I often get with my other non-SMC lenses.

And, in case you're wondering, it also has the quick-shift mechanism as found on Pentax DA lenses.

I have no idea whether they actually have the same coatings or not, but it seems likely that they would. From a manufacturing standpoint, it would be cheaper to coat all of the glass the same than to produce two versions.
