Sigma 10-20... as good as the 17-70?

Here's one for the Sigma fans among us:

I have a Sigma 17-70 and I love all aspects of the lens ... image, color and build are exceptionally nice. My question is for those of us who have both the 17-70 and the 10-20.... is the 10-20 as good as the 17-70?

I know it's apples and oranges, but I think Sigma owners can understand what I'm asking. Does this wide angle zoom compare to it's longer brother in terms of handling, build and most importantly, IQ?

Thanks in advance for your opinions.

Do you need the 2mm over the 12-24?

I can't really add any useful info except to say that 17-70 is probably a lot easier to design for than 10-20. So I would give the 10-20 a break even if it was rated slightly lower.

A thread in this forum refers to a review on dpreviews. Based on that review, I would not buy the 10-20 Sigma. It is very reminiscent of the two or three Sigmas I have tried over the years - soft.
