they are certainly worth the price. the FA limited lenses have a soul. and a distinctive way of rendering things, I use Leica lenses and I say that the FA limited lenses are every bit as good, I also shoot canon lenses, and only the very best L series primes can match these beautiful lenses. if i'm doing portraits I always reach for the FA77 limited. The canon 85mm f/1.2 L is a monster of a lens, it's bokeh is outstanding and so is it's resolution. However, I prefer the rendering of the FA77 also it is a very smal lensl(considering it's f/1.8) and it's only a stop slower than the canon. besides the hood on my canon 85mm lens is becoming loose...and I HATE the focusing by wire on the canon.
I think the DA Limiteds are actually a better deal if you buy new. If you can find the FA Limiteds used -- like I did -- or on sale, they actually aren't that costly. Relatively speaking, of course.
Absolutely hundreds of shots I could post -- check out my Flickr stream. FA43 was the first prime I bought and sometime later I found the cash for FA77. Incredible lenses. This is with a macro adapter on the 77.
...Great idea to show off some nice shots, there is a high LBA-risc, though...
Well, in order to save the possible LBA victims, I will take it upon myself to prove that these lenses do NOT make you into an artist .
While I'm quite pleased with these examples, others would probably just delete them.
Bart, I would love to see that last image in full resolution. Of course you can't post that here, but can you provide a link. I know Flickr allows that, don't know about Zenfolio.

Sure, no problem.
I had to upload the original first, though. I don't store the originals on Zenfolio.
This link should work.
In case it doesn't, just let me know.

This is with K10D, by the way.
Bart, it worked and I enjoyed it immensely. Your original image had the exif, and I knew it was taken with the K10D/FA43/iso 100 at F11....I wanted to see what it can do, as I got the lens for scenes like this. It did well in your hands.....
