I am into adaptall-2 LBA mode in trying to find out zoom lens that is less talked about. I just received a great copy of Tamron 75-250mm f/3.8-4.5 CF macro adaptall-2 104A. It is not the SP version but it is in adaptall-2 mount.

Do anyone have information to share on this lens? It is not as well built as my Tamron SP 70-210mm f/3.5 adaptall-2 19AH as part of the lens barrel seems to be in heavy plastic instead of metal. It is lighter than the 19AH while I feel the zoom is good and easy to handle as compared to 19AH.

It looks like a charmer -- that is my first impressions. I tried this lens as I find it close in range and aperture to the Pentax DA* 60-250mm f/4.0. The extra 50mm is also a plus for this zoom, the close up is weaker on this zoom with 1:3.4.

Two close-ups with the 52bb, 90/2.5 SP Macro, on a K100d. The first at f/11 the second at f/9, cactus triggered AF280T into an umbrella.

Oktoberfest with Tamron SP 80-200mm f/2.8 adaptall-2 30A

Though a bit heavy to shoot with this lens, I am quite happy to have this lens in my bag to cover events in low lighting. I shot this series around 5:30 to 6:30pm.

Hi everyone,

Tried searching this thread, but couldn't find the answer. I managed to pick up a new P/KA mount with a 60-300mm f3.8-5.4 and noticed that Aperture Priority mode would only indicate f4.0 unless I manually changed the setting using the camera.

In reading here it would seem that a max aperture of f4.0 is the correct value when at the wide end. However, even at the tele end, it still indicates a max aperture of f4.0, even though it should be f5.4. If the site I referenced is correct, this is normal operation, in that the P/KA lens adapter can only communicate to the body a value of f4.0 or larger. Am I correct in this statement?

Hin, I picked one of these up a few weeks back mostly because it was poorly listed and sold dirt cheap. My copy is all metal and initial testing shows pretty good IQ. The built in hood is a little loose and bugs me and I haven't gotten used to the balance yet. My overall opinion is , it's certainly not a junk lens but I haven't used it enough to decide just how good it is.

Went down to a local shop during lunch and compared my Adaptall SP 60-300mm f/4-5.4 to an adaptall-1 70-350mm f4.5.

IMO, it was no contenst, which is really a shame because the 70-350mm is such an impressive looking lens. Now, I know I cleaned my 60-300mm glass, and the 70-350mm also looked clean as well (but I didn't clean it). Would that make as much of a difference as these photos show?

Background:
K100D on tripod, both lenses at 300mm, aperture priority at f5.6, ISO 1600. It was a cloudy day and it was too dark inside the store, so I shot the concrete. Center target was the yellow concrete block. Multiple shots were taken of each lens, these were the best shots:

70-350mm, Image 155 is slightly back-focused, Image 156 is slightly front-focused:

This problem was discussed in previous threads and I always have these problems on two copies of adaptall-2 p/k-a adapter.

As far as I know, if you have a f/3.8, your Av aperture mode can only goes into f/4.0. And the possible apertures that I see bigger than f/4.0 are f/3.5, f/3.2 (not sure) f/2.8, f/2.5

In my short test one night, it comes out quite good. Ease of use stands out in that zoom and performance in 250mm is quite good. Hand-holding the zoom is nice and light. The zoom ring is superb like other adaptall-2 lens.

hi all great thread , just bought 300mm 2.8 60b lens(fantastic lens)can you use the pentax 1.7x converter with it,and ive just bought the tamron pk/a adapter will they both work together any info welcome.

Yes, that is true, but look at the concrete across the focus plane (not the yellow block in this case). You'll see that the area in focus on the front- and back-focused shots are much softer on the 70-350mm compared to the 60-300mm. I took around 10 shots with each lens, and consistently these were the results I saw.

I wonder if a $900 lens is worth consideration. I saw great pictures from pcarfan and he sold his copy well under $700 and I wish I could buy it at the time. Most ebay copies are pretty much beaten up. What kind of price range is justified for this lens. I saw a lot of good pictures in nature shot as well as racing and sports are taken by this lens. It is tempting but the weight and the bulkiness make me think quadruple times for a good tripod and ball-head investment before I can consider this lens.

There seems two versions with one on black and one on ivory green, is there big difference between the two.
