Adaptall Mount Club (Tamron).

I didn't see a thread for the adaptall mount lenses (Tamron thread is not really appropriate, as the adaptall lenses are unique), so decided to start one. Any lens in the following website qualifies:
Adaptall-2.com
The website has information for those who do not know much about these lenses.

If this club is already here, then please let me know.

I've only used the 300/f2.8 for a few hours of real shooting. Since then I have sold it to a fellow forum member. Some of the shots are with the Pentax 1.7 AFA, which makes this lens to be a 510mm/f4.8 auto focus lens. The Adapter works well with this lens.

Some images:

P.S: The first image actually got in to the PPG...woohooo

Now, the lens with the Sigma 100-300 F4 and the Pentax DA21

Please share your images......

You should post those in the over 300mm thread, they are superb.

I have a few Adaptall 2 lenses consisting of: Tamron Adaptall 2 SP 17mm f3.5 (51B), Tamron Adaptall 2 SP 35-80mm f2.8-3.8 (01A), Tamron Adaptall 2 SP 90mm f2.8 & f2.5 Macro (72B & 52BB with 1:1 adapter), 2x Tamron Adaptall 2 SP 70-210mm f3.5 (19AH) and 5 PK/A Mounts.

Ok, but these have all been posted elswhere too ...

My only adaptall-2 lens is Model 65B, the SP 400mm f/4 LD-IF, and it's pretty awesome. Here's a sampling from the two months I've had it, some of these are with the 1.4x Adaptall-2 TC also...

As I said in the "Tamron Club" thread...these are the only Tamron lenses I'll own--for obvious reasons! Great photos all around!

Where did you find the 400/4, Josh?

I wouldn't rule out their current line (SP AF), I have the 90mm/2.8 macro and the 70-200/2.8 and find them to be excellent (though the 70-200's been in for warranty work on a sticking aperture for a month now and I miss it).

I found the 400/4 on ebay... indeed!

I also have a fairly good collection of adaptall lenses. I have to sort out the images but I will post some soon. The hardest part for me is to remember the lens that I used. When I used an adaptall lens it doesn't show up on the EXIF so I had to guess.

This image was taken with a Tamron 04B 200 mm f3.5 adaptall 2.

Excellent idea for a club - the adaptalls have excellent performance and should be showcased.

And what a showcase so far - there are some jaw dropping (and funny!) photos here already.

Here's from three of mine:

There are some great photos here, guys! Congratulations and keep up the good work.

I've been building my collection of the Tamron SP Adaptall-2 manual focus lenses for several years now. It's almost complete - I'm waiting to receive a copy of the late model SP 90mm f2.8 Macro and then I'll be done. I only have one of the three 300mm f2.8 designs, but they are too pricy for me to have more than one! I also only have only one of the SP 500/8 mirror teles (the second, improved version), and only one of the SP 90/2.5 macros (the first one; the second was a cosmetic variation). With that caveat, I will have all of them, including the three SP teleconverters.

If you are interested, I posted about my most recent acquisition, the SP 28-105mm f2.8 here: http://www.dpreview.com/forums/read....ssage=31811425 It's an interesting lens but I'd rather shoot with my Pentax DA*16-50 and DA*50-135 for everyday use.

My sharpest Adaptall-2 lenses are probably the SP 90mm f2.5 Macro, the SP 180/2.5, the SP 300/2.8, and the SP 400/4. The SP 200-500/5.6 is also surprisingly good. I was disappointed with my recently acquired SP 300/5.6 so I sent it out for service, and learned today that it had a loose element and was out of collimation. It will be nice to finally see what it can do when it comes home again.

Actually, one of the hardest part of building this collection has been finding enough Adaptall-2 P/KA mounts for all my lenses. I think I've finally gotten enough of them after my most recent "find" at a small camera repair shop in Seattle. Thanks goodness for the Internet!

And by the way, the Adaptall-2.com website mentioned in the OP does not list all of the Adaptall-2 SP lenses. There are three additional ones, all late introductions: the SP 35-105mm f2.8, the SP 28-105mm f2.8, and the SP 90mm f2.8.

Regards, Jim
