SMC Tak / Soligor T4 2.8/105 comparison

Another round of comparing these two lenses, looking at the bokeh etc and not just sharpness. This time around, sharpness/detail wise, the Takumar edges the Soligor, but I'll leave the rest to everyone's eyes.

I did my best to focus on the same thing for each lens. I note the Soligor consistently has slower shutter speeds than the Tak, probably due more to lighting conditions (clouds) than difference in absolute speed. Though at 5.6 the Soligor maybe has a slightly deeper DOF.

Wow, those are almost identical wide open. Stopping down, I think I like the Soligor [edit: for the bokeh] (too bad--'cause I have the Tak!). How many blades does it have? Eight?

I didn't open up the larger size images, but these two lenses look to be pretty identical to the naked eye. The Soligor may have tad more contrast, but the images look pretty much the same otherwise.

Yes, there's not much to choose between the two. Accidents of focus and air movement (let's not mention technique here) probably swamp out any consistent difference. This time around the Tak has more definition (round one seemed the other way) in the rose petals. The bokeh, yeah, the Soligor may have a tiny edge there.

8 blades, yes.

Looks like a person could be very happy with either lens.
