A serious case of LBA...

We will be travelling through Zambia for 3 of weeks starting next week.
For that I wanted a sharper lens than my Tammy 18-250mm.
So, of I went to the camera shop, they let me try the DA 55-300mm and the DA* 60-250mm.
I tried them both with and without a Kenko 1.5x TC. Taking the SD card home for the final verdict.

Boy is that 60-250mm sharp!!

Both lenses work fine with the TC, while the Tammy can't handle it well.
So what lens to buy?
The 55-300?: € 299, 350 grams light, small, good optics.
The 60-250?: €1075, 980 grams heavy, large, superb optics, weather & dust sealed.

We will be walking for 10 days as well as 10 days in cars....

I could not decide... eventually I bought them both! One for walking and the other for the drives.
I must have been suffering from swine flew! How did that happen?
But boy, am I happy with them both! Finally I understand what LBA is

I thought I had it bad, but at least I'm (currently) obsessed with old MF lenses.

If you don't sell the Tamron, you're completely hopeless

Enjoy your trip.

Bert, you're sick - you've got it bad!
But you've found the cure - at least for a little while... enjoy your new purchases!

Now don't go to another camera store for a while, or your symptoms will relapse...
Just go out there and take photos like crazy...

Hum, well, painfull issue here.
The 16-50mm + Lens hood is so wide it doesn't fit in the bag together with all other lenses, 2 bodies and flash!
It will stay at home and I'll take the Tamron for wide and close up. No, I'm not selling
Who do you suggest I see to find a cure?

This kind of LBA will only get better with daily shooting with your existing gear, and avoiding temptations such as the forum's marketplace, B&H and the like...

No, don't sell your 16-50 - it is definitely worth keeping over the Tammy...
You'll do fine Bert, just give it some time and you'll be healed soon...

What you need is a bigger bag !!

I don't think that even qualifies as an LBA purchase or does it?
Anyway, it's a practical choice. When you're not using it you can store your lens collection in it
And, there is no cure and no one here can really help you. We'll all just encourage you in subtle, devious ways.

cheers

Of course! How stupid can I be!
Thanks for this advise!! That's what this forum is all about.
The point is that the day after I bought the lenses my wife bought me this large Tamrac bag...
What do you think it will do on the second hand market? She paid € 134...
