I note virtually all of these are 500 F8's (OK one 600).

this has inspired me to get out my 1000mm F11 Celestron C90.

I will make an honest attempt to get some shots, as it has been a whole year since I sorted out the fibration issue with the lens mount, and haven't taken a serious shot with it yet.

Long weekend here I come

I guess the Minolta RF Rokkor-X 250mm F/5.6 is the shortest, at least among lenses available to the general public -- there were strange mirror lenses of all focal lengths designed for scientific and military applications.

The Tamron SP 350mm F/5.6 is also one of the shortest and lightest mirror lenses available. Here are a few pictures taken in Cambodia with this lens (sorry if you have already seen them):

And if you ask me, I don't think it's suitable to remove the donut bokeh with Photoshop. Most of the time, it looks just nice! And what's the purpose of using a mirror lens if you make the pictures look as if they were taken with a not-so-sharp ordinary telezoom?

All taken with a Vivitat Series 1 800mm f8. I like mirror lenses slightly bad boy image and if anybody says they are crap is wrong.

Watch the birdy.

This looks a bit soft it's just that the turbines a so far away.

This was a bit of an experiment to see if this shot was even possible. I think I need to try again.

Some nice pics all around. I don't find the donut bokeh to be bad as illustrated by that BnW boat shot (very cool). Many shooters turn down the chance to own a mirror lens due to the negative feedback that is posted in forums which is a shame. Its an inexpensive tool for seeing the world differently. I'm looking forward to using my recently acquired Tamron 500b once the adaptall mount arrives.
