I notice that your description of the difference has evolved from "considerable" to "not a significant difference". Why not show this difference and describe how you measured it?

I agree that the DOF scale is irrelevant, but you did bring it up to suppot your assertion.

Is short throw an issue?

I can see how this makes MF difficult, but does it matter that much on AF? I would think that would make AF even quicker, unless of course, it misses catching focus and keeps hunting?

Yes, the DA35ltd has a flatter focal plane, which could affect the perception of
DOF near the edges at close range, but DOF is simply a function of sensor size,
focal length, and aperture at the same distance to subject. No 35mm lens has
any different DOF than any other at the same apertures.
